Minfang Chen 陳民芳（b.1992）

我來自台灣，是自由藝術工作者，專職西畫創作與教學。自中師美院畢業後，便展開了以全台為舞台的巡迴展覽計畫。十二年間，完成在本島十八縣市藝文中心的巡迴個展。也多次受邀參加台灣、國際的藝術博覽會。目前定居台中，持續以繪畫為生活的核心，延續我對藝術的探索與實踐。每一件作品都是藝術家對生命的回應，承載了思想和情感，而創作的旅途仍在延續，它將使我的答案變得更加完整。

I am an independent artist from Taiwan, dedicated to Western painting and art education. After graduating from an arts program, I began a series of solo exhibitions across the island. Over the past twelve years, my works have been shown in art centers throughout eighteen counties and cities, and I have also participated in various art fairs in Taiwan and abroad.

Now based in Taichung, I continue to make painting the heart of my life — a way to explore, to reflect, and to stay true to my creative path. Every piece I create is a response to life itself, carrying my thoughts and emotions within it. This ongoing journey of art continues to unfold, guiding me toward a more complete understanding of my own story.

創作自述

西方繪畫藝術的核心建立在邏輯之上，透過空間、光線與色彩的交織運用，創作者經歷觀察、分析、理解、判斷，最終形成主張。這一連串的過程，不僅幫助我們更深入洞悉事物的本質，也隨著思考的推進，使我們得以窺探人性，進而更加理解自己。這樣的創作方式，使作品與創作者建立深層的連結，相互對話、彼此影響，並在不斷交融與蛻變中，共同成長。

「生命的意義」對藝術家而言，始終是一道無解的命題。我們無從確知生命的歷程是否存在標準答案，正如同落筆的那一刻，我無法完全預測最終的畫面將如何呈現。

在「心隨筆走」的訓練養成中，我拋開了嚴謹的輪廓，於虛實之間捕捉萬物的真實，在筆觸的揮灑與收斂之間尋找平衡。我們或許在畫面上追求自由，然而，命運的時間線終究只為我們鋪設一條道路。於是，在全力以赴之後，我們還需學會面對唯一的結局，接受每一種美的呈現。這便是人生，也是美的最高境界。

在對未知的探索與對已知的反覆鍛鍊之間，我逐漸掌握內心自然流露的畫面語彙。透過描繪平凡事物，我放大自身的感官，培養包容與勇氣。這樣的歷程，讓我們更貼近藝術，也讓我們看見自身的無限可能。

Western painting is often rooted in logic, weaving together space, light, and color. The creative process moves through observation, analysis, understanding, judgment, and expression—step by step, revealing the essence of things. As our thoughts deepen, we gain insight into our life and, in turn, a clearer understanding of ourselves. This way of creating builds a deeper connection between the artwork and the artist, allowing them to engage in a silent dialogue, shaping and influencing each other, growing together through constant transformation.

There is no set answer to life’s journey—just as when I put brush to canvas, I can never fully predict how the final image will turn out. Through years of training in “letting the brush follow the heart”, I’ve learned to let go of rigid outlines, capturing the truth of things in the space between realism and abstraction, finding balance between bold strokes and careful restraint. And yet, no matter how much we strive for freedom in our art, time ultimately lays out just one path for us. After giving everything we have, we must also learn to embrace the only outcome before us—to accept beauty in all its forms. That, to me, is life, and the highest state of art.

Through exploring the unknown and refining what I know, I’ve come to understand the natural visual language of my inner world. By painting the ordinary, I sharpen my senses, expanding my capacity for both acceptance and courage. These are what bring us closer to art—and to the possibilities within ourselves.

生平

陳民芳於1992年出生於台灣。師承張城吉，在「心隨筆走」的薰陶下，培養出對藝術的熱情，喜歡用繪畫的邏輯來回應人性中感性的一面。十歲接觸繪畫，尋常的家庭背景下只讀普通科，直到大學不顧反對選擇念國立台中教育大學美術系，學士畢業後隨即走入自己的藝術生涯，一邊教學一邊創作。她在畢業前夕於台中葫蘆墩文化中心舉辦第一次個展「啟程」，從此開啟全台巡迴展覽的計畫，十二年間於各大文化中心舉辦西畫個展，包含台北國父紀念館、台中大墩文化中心、台東生活美學館⋯等，於2025完成全台18縣市巡迴展出，邁入下個階段。近年來她開始參與國際藝術博覽會，包含巴黎Art Shopping、Business Art Fair，接下來還有其他藝術活動規劃。目前居住於台中，持續著自己的藝術創作職業之路。

Minfang Chen, born in Taiwan in 1992, began her artistic journey under the mentorship of Chan-Chan-Chi, where she embraced the philosophy of “Let mind follow the flow of the pencil." This approach deepened her passion for art and shaped her talent for conveying the emotional nuances of human nature through a painter’s logic. She first encountered painting at age ten, and despite coming from a typical background with a general education, she chose to study fine arts at National Taichung University of Education, pursuing her passion despite opposition. After earning her degree, she launched into her art career, balancing teaching with creating.
Just before graduating, she held her debut solo exhibition, “Departure,” at Huludun Cultural Center in Taichung, initiating her journey of touring exhibitions across Taiwan. Over the last decade, she has showcased her Western-style paintings at major cultural centers across the island, including the National Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall in Taipei, the Dadun Cultural Center in Taichung, and the Aesthetic Living Museum in Taitung. By 2025, she aims to complete her goal of exhibiting in all 18 counties and cities in Taiwan, marking a significant milestone and the start of her next chapter.
Recently, Min-Fang has also expanded her reach internationally, participating in prominent art fairs such as Art Shopping and Business Art Fair in Paris, with more events on the horizon. She currently resides in Taichung, where she continues to pursue her path as a professional artist, dedicated to both her art and its growing impact.
